The Best Travel Sites
On The Net . . . Period
There are a lot of
different travel sites on the Internet,
but some of them truly stand out, depending of course upon
your needs and requirements.
ALL AROUND SITES
The best all-around
travel site has to be:
Expedia
.com
This site is great
for putting together travel packages,
Disney vacations, cruise and sight-seeing tours and Resort
packages. If you are looking for a tour or a package,
Expedia is bar none, the best. But you can't rule out
Orbitz.com either. It's growing
so fast in popularity that
it's practically in a virtual tie with Expedia.
Following close on
their heels of course is Travelocity.com,
another great site for general travel. These sites are great
for overall travel plans and for family vacations etc,. but
don't rule them out for the occasional great bargain either.
The Editor of this
piece was investigating flight prices
from New Mexico to Oregon recently and actually found a
better price on Expedia than on either Hotwire or Priceline!
The moral to this story is to check and double check!
Experiment with different flight times etc,. you might just
stumble onto that rare jewel at one of these sites.
DEEP DISCOUNT SITES
If you are looking
for the best deals and deepest discounts, the
best site right now is:
Hotwire.com
Provided you have a
fairly flexible schedule. You might for
example, have to catch a flight at 5:30AM and make one or
even two connections to get where you are going. But the
savings could well be worth it.
Hotwire Bonus
- This has to be the best site out there for
booking car rentals. It is not unusual at all to get a
midsize car for no more than $18.00 per day. You may not
know what company you're getting, but as long as you get a
great car, who cares? Give 'em a shot next time you need a
car rental. I once snagged a 4-wheel drive upgrade in LA (Chevy
Blazer) for almost a whole week for $18.00 per day!
The next best site
for discounted travel would of course
have to be PriceLine.com.
As with any discount site, do your
research before you log on, offer a low but still
reasonable price and chances are, you'll get to where you
are going on the "cheap."
Priceline and Hotwire
are both great deals for last-minute
travel needs where the airlines typically charge top dollar.

Thanks
for the great info - I saved over $300.00 on my last flight
home.
